How to make a good & useful new years resolution

It's getting close to the time of the year when people start making the same resolutions as they have for the last few years. And it AMAZES me, it really fucking does. If you can plan and follow through on going on holiday, then you can develop a plan to get in the shape you want. And as for this shit of waiting for the 'perfect' time to start? What a crock of shit. It's a total cop out.

You don't sit in the drive waiting for every traffic light to go green before turning the key in the ignition. That'd be batshit crazy. And yet that's what most people do with
their fitness. It's bonkers! It's no wonder so many people are unhappy with their lot in life, they're stuck sitting in the drive waiting for all the lights to go green.

When you plan a holiday, you usually start with a destination in mind. Next you look at the transport options, and once you decide on a vehicle to get you there, you figure out how long it's going to take to pay it off the credit card.

The destination is your goal. The vehicle is how you're going to achieve it; it could be by taking care of your nutrition, it could be running, or lifting weights or whatever appeals to you. Each will get you to your destination but it may be a faster or slower journey than some of the others. Most often, you'll use more than one vehicle, because that'll be a more effective way to get to your destination. You may have to take a detour, because you realise the route you'd originally planned will no longer be as efficient as you expected; You will have to be willing to adjust your journey as you go; you'll speed up and slow down.

What you will not do, however, is slash the rest of your tyres if you get a puncture, and then set fire to your car. Yet that is exactly the mindset many people have with NYR's related to health and fitness.

If you would like me to help you develop your personal travel plan to a healthier, happier, fitter future, you know what to do.

Or will you still be sitting in your drive in 2020, waiting for all the lights to turn green?
